Rigs of Rods looks like an interesting driving simulator. Depending on how accurate its physics are, it could be a useful training tool. Will need to download it at some point to find out.
Added the main sites for some of the games to the first post. Tried to get the global URLs but the one for the Pokemon card game is region based. Will need to do some digging to see if I can track down the global URL.
Started adding Lorcana to the first post. 🙂
😀
Back on my old Mac from the 90’s, we had to perform a system restore at least once a year or it’d crap out. Never did figure out why 😛
Use Bash myself though I know a lot of people these days love C Shell or even Zsh. Probably need to give C shell a whirl one day. 🙂
I remember years ago when I was first learning about how computers work I was having trouble on Windows 95 getting the disc drive to work properly with some games. Support had me use XCOPY to copy the disc to the local drive to help diagnose the issue. Can’t remember any details other than that 😛
And Google is moving Chrome to Manifest V3 so uBlock Origin will no longer function properly. They have a pared down Lite version that will work but it leaves big open spaces in the content where the main version didn’t 🙁
Yeah, tracking down manuals for older products can be hard! It’d be nice if the manufacturers kept an archive for them but not all of them do, sadly. For my turntable, I had to grab it from a third-party site even though Thorens is still going strong.
Looks pretty straightforward: just a matter of popping open the compartment and slotting it in. 🙂 Sometimes, things can get a bit more complicated than that 😛
Sad news: https://www.theverge.com/2024/8/30/24232171/anandtech-tech-journalism-hardware
🙁
Fortunately, we still have Ars Technica. Hopefully, for a while more.
Been a while so I had to reacquaint myself with how Windows works…
Looks like that’s a limitation in Windows. The Windows tools only have the ability to create a 32 GB volume but the OS has no problem recognizing and working with it up to its maximum size of 16 TB. In order to go above 32 GB, you’ll need to use a different tool or file system. Why these inconsistencies exist is beyond me but they’re very annoying! Part of why I prefer *nix. 😛
Another item to add to our potential knowledge base. 🙂
Just make sure your life jacket is handy and you’re sitting next to the lifeboats!
Great! Have you installed them yet?
Awesome! On farms, they’re using flying bots equipped with lasers to blast weeds. Or at least they’re in development.
Here are the old ones if you want to catch up! Lots of interesting stuff on Textfiles!
The Register is fun. They put a slightly humorous spin on their stories. It definitely keeps things interesting 😛
Did some poking around and here are their newsletters and feeds:

https://www.theregister.com/Design/page/feeds.htmlHaven’t read the recent articles yet on dark matter but they’re starting to believe that it doesn’t exist and something else is afoot with dark energy instead.
Looks fun! Will give it a whirl sometime 🙂
Still haven’t played through any of the DnD games, even though I have them all on the wishlist and picked up the Neverwinter collection in a giveaway. Really need to change that at some point 🙁
While Lorcana doesn’t have an official database, there’s a pretty good fan site that helps to fill in the blanks: https://dreamborn.ink/
Finally got around to watching the Lawnmower Man (director’s cut) yesterday. Highly recommended even if the reviews have it at 37%. 🙂
Saw this one yesterday. It was fun but the plot made zero sense. They kept forgetting various things that made it nonsensical, such as when the heroines top got cut by a scythe at a warehouse leaving her topless. They just left it at that without a change of clothes and a few dead bodies. We’re supposed to assume she made it back in that state without trouble in a clearly dangerous town where everyone knows how to kick everyone and wants to kick everyone. Yeah, the film was pretty silly when you get down to it 😛
Tried out Lorcana yesterday and it’s pretty fun. The game is pretty chill and is pretty straightforward, unlike modern YGO. As far as gameplay goes, it’s similar to a boardgame but without the board aspect. I’ll probably try it for a bit and see how it goes 🙂
What filesystem did you format it as? It may have been a filesystem limitation.
Weird that original run didn’t properly set up the system files. Of course, I’ve never tried to set up a Windows recovery drive (I’ve always just used the installation media). Are things well on the way to recovery now, then?
Here’s an interesting blurb on wormholes: https://futurism.com/the-byte/small-wormholes-fabric-space-time
Got more articles buried in my list somewhere. Wormhole research has really been getting popular over the last several months!

*looks at timestamp*
Yay! New story! Always did love the series! 😀 Been reading it for twenty years 😛
My base in NMS is coming along rather nicely. Got a roamer bay assembled so that will help with exploring the planet I’m on and I may toss a few more bases on it later. Not sure as it’s nothing special, just the first base the game had me make to get used to base building. 🙂
Still want to build a base on that desert planet but I’ll get there! I should probably start naming the bases something witty but I’m terrible at coming up with names. 😛
Eventually, I’ll need to go to the Anomaly to unlock more base parts but I’m still working on the initial unlocks. The game is about to have me unlock a freighter, which will be nice
Haven’t yet figured out the purpose of the terminals other than for roleplaying so I may need to look them up. Will get there
Saw After Hours yesterday and it was a lot of fun. Not a whole lot of plot but that’s okay!
Thanks. Took a closer look at the reviews and they’re pretty consistent with regards to the upper lip area. Sounds like the spacing of the rotaries is too much to properly cover the area. Back to the drawing board!
Yeah, I’ve always had battery anxiety. Really wish we’d go back to batteries that were easily replaceable by the consumer. 🙁
Ugh. Hope all goes well!
Yeah, we’ll miss Gundam. 🙁 In other news, Japan has started using giant robots to repair utility lines!
Thanks! Taking a look at them now, this one looks like a good middle of the road option?
Great!
I really miss games hosting the leaderboards on an easily accessible site. 🙁 Granted, that hasn’t been much of a thing in a long time but I still miss it! It was fun to check in and see how you were doing compared to everyone else throughout the day. 😛
Have never seen the Alien films but they are on the list. Figure I need to watch them at least once. The Predator crossovers? I can probably skip those. 😛
Yep, that looks like a good design. Over here, we usually make our own. Not sure of the details, though, since that knowledge hasn’t been passed down to me. Will need to change that!
Finally got around to seeing The Stepford Wives the other day. While it wasn’t bad, it wasn’t exactly my cup of tea. Found it a bit bland for some reason or other.
